In a previous life I was a baggy-arsed LAC in the RAAF at Amberley, out of Ipswich. A couple of us were walking quietly from the mess after lunch when this Phantom F4 came towards us, low, wallowing, out of control. We thought we were dead.
The Jock then did a mini display which included breaking mach 1 shattering windows [after he passed us, I still haven't heard a sonic boom] with the finale going vertical punching a hole in the overcast.
I have searched on that manoeuvre for 50 yrs since and never found it. I believe it is a Dutch roll, something seldom done deliberately
BUT TODAY I FOUND IT on video.
