The biggest black mark against Stoinis is his  lack of centuries at Shield level. You could probably cut him some slack with the death of his father in recent times but he hasn't made a Shield century since 2015. Some guys actually step it up when they get to Test cricket, would he be one of those or not....? I guess the selectors have to make a call on that. Greg Chappell  certainly knows a batsman when he sees one no doubt. I'd love to know  exactly what his reservations are. Stoinis is an incredibly powerful batsman who could pressure bowling attacks and provide useful back up with his bowling. It's almost like he's paying for the gamble Australian cricket took on Mitch Marsh that so far hasn't paid off. Or perhaps the selectors are seeing something they are just not liking. If he nailed a couple of Shield tons he'd most likely force their hand. Maybe WA should bat him at 3 and give him the chance.
