bali dope is low grade weed grown traditionally using standard seed varieties. the trade to tourists is huge.

in the last 15 years, hydro dope has taken off in the western world. so has the genetic manipulation of dope seeds to produce more potent pot, higher yielding pot, with many different varieties. a simple net search will reveal all.

bali tourists are cashed up westerners, dope smoking beach bums, etc. so the market was there for the dope they are used to smoking at home. it wasnt (till recently) available in bali, and for a variety of reasons, hydro wasnt grown indoors. 1stly because to do so would mean no escape for the grower. you are sitting on a bust. also, i imagine the electrical isnt too hot over there. getting the supplies needed to grow would also open some eyes.

so, there was a market. in australia, 1 pound of hydro is perhaps 4k if bought in from a grower. cheaper if you grow it yourself. 15x$50 deals could be sold from 1 oz of high grade hydro in a place like bali. thats $750 per oz. times that by 16= $12000. per pound.

im not sure, but i think corby was caught with 5kg? we'll call it ten lb. ten pound=$120,000 street value in small deals in bali. for a 40k outlay. not bad for a trip to an island paradise. not a risk id take, but no one ever accused the corbys of being smart.
