What a great and informative post BT. Lots of thought and interesting info, thanks! ... gained from your own experience.

... and I did not perceive anything negative at all in it. On the contrary.

It is a snapshot of what is typically involved in purchasing and refurbishing equipment, and preparing accommodation for it. Some of the traps and pitfalls as well. Plus some suggested time scales. Yes, a lot depends on the condition of the equipment, and how much there is. I do not think they would saddle themselves with junk.

This Total processing installation is being designed to be upgradeable, and to be the centre for what will certainly become a multi-pit regional operation.

Those time-scales look most favourable and not negative.... even if things go off the rails now and again, which is surely normal on such construction projects.

Perhaps it might be time for Xstrata to step up to the plate and do whatever is needed to get things going. Identify whatever roadblock is holding things up, and simply remove it. If it is finance, then step in decisively. Provided the detailed numbers do add up attractively.

The fact that Xstrata has 15% was lauded... NOW! the time has come to actually DO something to prove a real partnership exists. If Xstrata has any friendly takeover plans very long-term then it is in their interests to see AVB flourish, and get exploring actively as well. Surely they do not plan a passive 15% holding forever?

Perhaps Scotty's comment suggesting more than one option is being examined for finance just says Avanco is not totally reliant on the whims of a smelter. Good. Also a BFS not being required may tie in with Xstrata funding. They are friends after all, not third party banks etc.

A lot can be done in a preliminary way but without money one's hands are increasingly tied.

Agree that the SP being down is not due to any failure as such. More to do with market uncertainty when you do not tell people what is precisely going on... as far as sensitivities will allow. ..plus the stubborn 1million seller at 0.075 who refuses to go away :))

Personally I have no idea what is going on at AVB. I am sure they are all working hard, but publishing the photos of two short core sections for example with no comment attached..... does not get the punters excited and push up the SP. It merely gets people very annoyed.

If BT can take the time to write a detailed post like that, which everyone gains from... why don't AVB management do the same!! ?
