I might seem like a lot of hurdles but its only what every other wannabe mining company would have to go through. Raising funds for CapEx through banks can be painfully slow and expensively laborious and so, in my experience, its the smaller companies with the big bag of private cash which get up and running soonest.
I know I've said it before but exploitation of the DSO should have been a good way to start: generate cashflow, generate production experience as a team; reassure the market of intent etc.
Critically, though, this would have facilitated the establishment of a site office with sufficient experienced personnel in it to start the AN plant and mine planning with a vengeance. Corporate offices in a remote city (or different country/continent) always suffer a palpable inertia.. They often hire though fail to retain good 'production' people and so many design and planning tasks are inevitably farmed out to the big design houses (Worley Parsons etc) with their own scheduling priorities, delays and associated inflated costs.
There will be at least a Geo shed or two out there 'on site'.. I'd like to see them expanded to house mining, surveying and metallurgical personnel hungry to build something. I'd also be more comfortable knowing WP was spending the greater part of his time there too..
