Of course there are advantages to the two merging.. I support the merger (not quite sure about the ratio, I think OXR should have greater weight), I just think someone will come in and prevent it happening. I just don't buy some of the arguments about why a major would want to buy ZFX (e.g. Xstrata wanting the cash? come on..)

They did the deal this way (scrip-scrip, OXR bidding) to conserve ZFX cash and so OXR shareholders wouldn't get to vote (as there is more chance ZFX shareholders would approve given the bottom fell out of the zinc market and lackluster performance recently.. also failure to capitalise on $21/share).. however this leaves what I think is the more attractive company to a major out in the breeze (with a large new copper mine in a stable country.. how many of these are starting up this year......... try none).
