School Closures

Tonight we heard on the news the Health Minister responding to questions about closing schools.

He said that it was not a good idea because it would interrupt health workers who would need to care for children, as well as potentially relying on children being cared for by grand parents.

This, as I've stated previously elsewhere, this is well intended, but short sighted.

It is better to close schools now on our terms and not the pesky's terms. By doing this now, health workers have the opportunity before chaos hits hospitals, to manage their home affairs, and if this includes grandparents assisting in child minding, then so be it, which is still possible before the children become carriers.

Eventually the schools are likely to close anyway, and then the strain on our health workers will be greater.

Closing schools now is the lesser of the two evils, and will probably bring significant benefits.

Like trading, life's choices are about proper timing.
