The research is clear: the number one factor affecting student performance is quality teaching by quality teachers. Sure, online delivery is increasing but not at the expense of schools. The trend is clear world wide. As an example, look at the almost doubling of new schools build worldwide offering the IB in the last ten years to more than 6000 as an indication that the trend is for globalisation, not shutdown.
