That's because educated people understand that when the word 'God' is used, it is not a reference to a man with robes and a beard, but rather the organizing intelligence of all of Life, the universes, time and space, black holes, leptons, photons, fairies and fairy floss.
When we look at a light bulb burning, we understand that there is an unseen energy making it happen - electricity. God is the same - an unseen, immaterial, non-person, non-entity, non-energy *thing* which organizes and breathes life into the physical universe. It doesn't care about people, and you can't win its approval.
As you know, some people say you are It. Some people seem to have realized I Am That.
