Dogby, For a while the science was considered settled that the Earth is flat. The prevailing view is that is roundish but if someone could prove otherwise they would be welcome to have a go.
I am suggesting that no one has the authority to declare the science settled or beyond question on any topic. No one should be hounded for questioning and investigating any aspect of science.
Some things however may not be questioned without punishment. The Pope still speaks with papal infallibility on occasion. The writings of the Prophet are considered the literal word of God and beyond question.
