As there is no such thing as a magnetic monopole, ie all magnetized particles have both a North and a South pole, what is to stop them turning around and being attracted back to the wand? It would be energetically more likely that burrowing through the skin.
Why not get a couple of magnets and try pushing one around with the other? What will happen is that they will snap together and stay that way until pulled apart.
