No, of course I'm not paid to 'promote global warming' - lol.

Would anyone pay anyone to make the world less liveable? Scratch that - I guess we do - many countries (including NSW AFAIK) subsidise coal power stations to pollute the atmosphere.

Nor am I being paid to try to prevent global warming. I'm not paid for posting about climate science here or anywhere else at all.

I developed an interest in climate science some time ago and have put in many (hundreds?) of hours of research on the subject - learning about the science as well as researching the 'information' provided by the disinformation websites as well as considering articles by people who are more genuine about querying the science - and following up on the questions they raise. It's an ongoing interest as you've probably guessed and I like to share what I've learnt - with sources people can easily check.

IMO the risk from global warming is one of the most pressing issues humanity has ever faced. Probably the most pressing ever. More so than the last glacial period that ended about 12,500 years ago because there are so many more of us and we are much less mobile. As well as that, we are risking a considerably greater rise in temperatures than there was a drop in temperature during that ice age. (Second most pressing is the combined problems of over-population and resource depletion.)

I try to act on the basis that humanity will survive for thousands of years to come and will continue to develop more thinking and peaceful civilisations - with art, science and technology in harmony with nature. We are placing that notion of continued development at risk - and making it more and more likely that the next few generations will not find life as easy. I don't want to be part of the generation that caused the world a lot of pain and damage.
