How can violence unite warring tribes? How can unity result from violence?
In Mohamed's time. One word. Fear. DBT has covered this. In the Middle East fear seems to still be the primary driving force.
How cananything that is deemed valuable enough to influence Europe towards Enlightenment come out of violence? The enlightenment happened in Europe when rational thinking began to trump irrational religious doctrine and in spite of religious organisations trying to stop it. The enlightenment happened in spite of the violence.
Please note, I am not denying that there was violence, there was, but the centrality of Muhammad's Message was progress, unity, nation-building, justice and tolerance. Where is the progress, unity, nation building, justice and tolerance now. Why the death penalty for blasphemy in some countries? Not as a result of tolerance I hope.
