Christians ague black and blue over the issue of Jesus being the Son of God and hence also or not also God.

Irrespective of this, most Christians agree from scripture that Jesus is worthy of worship, and more than just a prophet, and don't recognize Muhammad as a prophet, nevermind the final one, so trying to shoehorn Mohammed into Christian scripture is not going to get you very far among most Christians.
If you want to seriously believe New Testament scripture then you need to acknowledge that Jesus died on a cross (or some say a stake) in order for humankind to receive salvation. To the best of my knowledge Muslims believe neither of these points. If they did they would probably be Christians.
