Geo-botanical prospecting is nothing new and was in use and known to students of geology 50+ years back. At that time it had been used in South Africa. Leaves were being assayed to determine what may lie underneath.
If one googles, one will find the Chinese used plants as an indicator in the 5th Century.
Strange that they are hailing the principle as a new discovery.
