    Thanks Tony,
Professor Kirill Alexandrov discusses the development of pharmacologically active cyclic peptides that are more stable and active. The use of the term 'stable and active' appears to resonate with the remark by Dr Tatjana Heinrich in which she discusses the current difficulties with peptide drug development because "they are small, relatively expensive and easily filtered out of the body".

As you have highlighted, Alexandrov states that cyclic peptides have a variety of uses. Now, the variety of uses is probably numerous - even innumerable - considering the range of targets within the body. By way of example he highlights two targets: antibiotics and cancer. The choice of examples is hardly coincidental.

More likely, it reflects the tight focus by Phylogica in targeting the development of antibiotics and cancer drugs through its in-house program and through its collaboration with Genentech.
