Unlike Scomo's out of touch Hawaiian escape, surely Gladys Berejiklian would have the good sense to cancel the NYE fireworks. That really would be a Caligula or she-wolf type of action. I would not believe Gladys Berejiklian would be stupid enough to go ahead with the NYE fireworks on Sydney Harbor.

Gladys should have abandoned the fireworks already and going ahead with them would be as stupid politically and reputationally as her hopeless Opposition Leaders Foley (groping a Journalist) and Daley (apologising for being racist) and McKay (defending the indefensible at ICAC). The likely ALP challenger at the next election Chris Minns would have the good sense to abandon the fireworks. Even Anthony Albanese (without Carmel) would judge that the right way.

Gladys Berejiklian would become the Huma Abedin/ Anthony Weiner of Sydney/ NSW politics if she went ahead with the fireworks. I think the NSW LNP would barely give her 3 months more if she did that. It would be a gift for Kean or Perrottet to base their campaign for taking over the Premiership as Kean and Perrottet have so desired.

A shrewd Premier and politically savvy operative like Steven Marshall should be consulted by her (and perhaps Scomo). Steven Marshall seems to have more sense than the lot of them.
