You are right. For one man to defeat the entire forces lined up against him and win means that he has talent. He not only made the Labor party look stupid but also their other supporters at the election that included a disgruntled Turnbull, his equally disgruntled son and a biased ABC. To say he is dumb must mean that the "other side" is extra dumb. Since birds of a feather flock together and you are judged by the company you keep I assume that those siding with those mentioned must also be low in IQ and part of the dumb brigade.
I remember once listening to Menzies on the campaign trail when he was being heckled by someone hissing loudly. He waited for them to pause and said "there are two things that hiss, a goose and a fool. Come forth and be identified".
