I respect your pov and as yet I'm undecided on 4 yr fixed terms.
during an election we try to develop an understanding of the candidates - which would be best to represent the electorate. Yet all we get are party ads and leader speeches unless we deliberately chase down each candidate to speak with them personally. We had 10 candidates in our last state election.
when you vote for someone we often haver no idea what the person is about.
hence our democracy has severe failings.
if ever there were to be fixed terms I would want a means of an electorate removing a MP if that person turns out to be other than they presented themselves to be during the election.
as well, sometimes 3 years has seemed to be too long for some Govs.
