He didn't do it for the coastal people. IMO he did it to save the seats of Photios aligned NSW wets, who all lost there seats to Teal's anyway. The gas lead recovery story Morrison was getting his party to sell was a farce. They would berate States for not opening up reserves, but this one they fully controlled and knocked it back. Strong leader my backside.
