Apparently, now it has come to light Keith Pitt and Michael McCormack (Nationals leader at the time) knew ScoMo had appointed himself to the portfolio before June 2021 (as Barnaby was leader after this). However, every bit of press up until December 2021 had Keith Pitt as the Responsible Commonwealth Minister for the decision. Even then Scomo was saying he was cancelling it as PM.
It appears McCormack and Pitt never took it back to the Nationals party room, as they just got done in on the Coalition agreement. I wonder what the party room would have made of it. What a tangled mess and Pitt is in it up to his eyeballs as well. They allowed the public to be misled. I don't hazard a guess what it means legally, but it is disgraceful Governance.
