one report I read stated it would take around 15 years to plan, educate the community, train employees, obtain a contract to build, obtain planning permissions (all in the first 5 years or more)...... next to find a suitable site that has zero nimbys, Federal, State and local council approvals, more planning for the build, organisation of contractors and supply of materials, and obtain funding (another 5 years or so).... engineer, construct, solve construction problems (cost and time blow-outs) and prepare for commissioning (at least another 5 years).......
so with M. about to lose the next election it'll be incumbent on the new Gov to decide if a nuclear plant is desirable, possible and with positive cost/benefit and business plans. At this point, by xmas 2022, the thought bubble will have collapsed and put oil the back-shelf behind the gas peaking plant and gas field plans.
in other words..... its a pipe dream that will not come to fruition.
if they are genuinely wanting to go nuclear they will need bipartisan support or take it election and see who wins.
