I do think voters give up a bit when they look at the two main options. That's why we end up with a 50:50 result often. They vote for the party they hate the least.

You can see that repeated around the world these days. The voters simply don't have a preferred option.

Independents forcing a bit of sensible change might get voters more interested in future. Hopefully.
