the only issue here is that the economy will have so many blips and waves, it won't be easy to measure in this crisis - but,
all one has to do is to realise what would have happened if there weren't any handouts
why is this a difficult concept -
governments giving cash to poorer people - MAKES money
it makes the economy work better - when the economy works better - it grows
when it grows, tax receipts grow
is there something deeply mysterious that you don't get that?
is there something difficult about realising that an aged pensioner who gets an extra 100 bucks a week spends it on a coffee and a hairdo and that the cafe and the hairdresser have to buy extra supplies, put in extra chairs, get extra transport then all of those suppliers have to do the same
over and over and over
and, guess what --------------- the effect is INSTANT
the payment comes into Mrs Widow Agedpensioner at midnight
Next morning she's got a 9 o'clock hairdresser appointment and at 12 o'clock - she's with Mavis for lunch to show off the hairdo
within a week at a guess - every dollar she has spent has gone back to the government in one way or another
christ ------------- how obvious is this even from the last weeks when all were inside hiding
