I think Nihilism hits the nail on the head, if you are willing to say it is "cash flow positive" you need to show what numbers you are using to determine that to have any credibility.
The clarification is really just another kick in the nuts for shareholders, the information in the study might be to help management make decisions, but shareholders need to make decisions too. If the results are so great why not be transparent about it to allow the shareholders to assess the results for themselves?
