We have the data from the US and we know what will happen once we open. It's happening there right now. There will be a pandemic of the unvaccinated.
In particular in the US, morbidly obese Trump and far right supporters who smoke and drink too much and eat crap foods. They will drag down some vaccinated too, as no vaccine is 100% effective. As we open up, we have to accept that the unvaccinated will make Australia less safe than it is now.
We still have to do it. Eventually we have to enter the world again knowing some idiotically refuse the pharmaceutical armour we have provided them.
We have to get back to work and interacting with the world.
Although anti-vaxxers (and amoral politicians/grifters seeing an opportunity to get votes or donations) have waged a disgusting war against decent Australians in our fight to vaccinate and get moving again, our duty is to support the deluded while we get on with life. Not to say "Ha ha sucker" as an otherwise good person dies because they were stupid enough to get radicalised online into the mindless anti-vaxxer extremism undermining Australia. They will be a burden that we have to carry.
But at some point, when vaccinations are at a high enough level, anti-vaxxers will have to face the consequences of their decisions as we open borders. We can't continue to protect them forever.
