Indeed, every terrorist organization, cartel and hostile government out there now knows they can kidnap Aussies and the govt will cave to every demand.
A more stately thing to do would have been to sanction the terror state of Iran, pressure our allies to block trade with Iran, suspend visas, confiscate foreign funds & investments of Iranians abroad, make Iran poor and bleed from every orifice until they have no choice to release the hostage.
Muslims, Arabs, Persians only respect and fear brute strength. They despise weakness and see it as an opportunity to do us further harm.
