The Australian goverment has been seeking for a reginal solution to refugees .It has not stopped on that purpose .Naru is seen as not being a solution for the archipelago we as an nation live in.We are not the only country who has those seeking refuge. We are the only country at war with another nation i guess possibly one reason for struggle for solution the other is countries in our region do not want the attraction.
Amnesty International believes that the Labor Government?s renewed proposal to set up an offshore centre for the regional processing of asylum claims is an attempt to circumvent important domestic and international legal protections for refugees.
The organisation is calling on the incoming Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Bowen, to provide more detail regarding the proposal to establish a regional processing centre in East Timor. The call comes following recent comments by the minister affirming that establishment of such a centre is a ?key? priority for the government.
?On the basis of the information currently available, this proposal is alarmingly similar to the now defunct and thoroughly discredited Pacific Solution of the Howard Government,? said Dr Graham Thom, Refugee Coordinator for Amnesty International.
?Amnesty International campaigned vigorously against the Pacific Solution and opposes the offshore processing and detention of asylum seekers. Transferring asylum seekers who attempt to reach Australia by boat to a third country is a breach of international law, and runs a high risk of exposing genuine refugees to grave human rights violations.?
Amnesty International believes the only way of preventing asylum seekers and refugees from attempting dangerous boat journeys to Australia in search of safety is to provide them with viable alternatives.
?If the Australian Government is serious about pioneering regional solutions to these issues, it must do so in a principled manner. This includes building the capacity of Australia?s neighbours to protect refugees and encouraging respect in those countries for their human rights,? said Graham Thom.
?As one of the few countries in the Asia Pacific region to have signed the Refugee Convention, Australia should be leading by example and providing a positive example of how best to protect refugees.?
Amnesty International has written to Minister Bowen, outlining its concerns.
The organisation has long called for calm, rational and factual discussion of refugee issues, and welcomes Minister Bowen?s commitment to leading a ?mature? debate in this regard

Myself i beieve while at war in a different nation the nation of which it does not belong has a moral obligation to accept the people from that nation which are effected.
