Three Rivers and Ngualla Projects
Geophysical Surveys Commence
Peak Resources Limited (ASX code: PEK) advise that the Company has this week
commenced geophysical surveys at both its Three Rivers Project in Western Australia
and the Ngualla Project in Tanzania.
Three Rivers Project EL52/1663
(Peak Resources 100%)
Geophysical Programme
The Three Rivers Project is located about 25 kilometres
to the west of Sandfire Resources De Grussa discovery
(Doolgunna Project) and approximately 130km NNE of
Meekatharra in Western Australia.
Earlier studies by Peak postulated that the Jenkins Fault
passes through E52/1663 and that Narracoota Volcanics
are present within the area of the licence. Geological
mapping has importantly confirmed extension of the
Jenkins Fault passing thought the exploration licence.
The Jenkins Fault lies on the contact between the
Naracoota Volcanics and the Peak Hill Metamorphics,
(together potentially important geological and structural
features in common with De Grussa.)
Data generated by a geochemical survey at the Three
Rivers Project highlighted several areas of coincident
multi element geochemical anomalism (including
anomalous copper values) in soils over Narracoota
Volcanics and adjacent to the Peak Hill Schist.
The geochemical anomalies defined by Peak within the
Narracoota Formation may represent surface indications
of VMS style mineralisation. Nine targets have been
identified from geochemical data and mapping. While
these represent the most prospective areas delineated from work undertaken areas outside these targets are still
considered prospective and are covered by the design TDEM survey.
Once this survey has been completed the Companys consultant will interpret results report on findings and provide
recommendations on drill targeting of conductors delineated.
Ngualla Project
(Peak Resources earning 80%)
The Ngualla Project is a large rare earth
phosphate prospect located approximately
120km from the town of Mbeya in south
western Tanzania. The Company recently
completed a 322 hole air core drill
programme on the Ngualla Carbonatite.
Analytical results from this programme are
being released to the market as they come
to hand.
This week an airborne geophysical survey
of the Ngualla Project is to commence with
the aim of improving the understanding
of structural controls which may influence
mineralisation.
The survey comprises a detailed
aeromagnetic survey on a 75m line spacing
and at 75m height. When completed, the
data will be returned to Australia for detailed
interpretation by Southern Geoscience.
It is anticipated that geochemical data from drilling and soil sampling in association with geological/geophysical work
will be integrated to form key components on which to plan the next drilling programme scheduled to take place
between October and December 2010.
