what a pointlessly long thread, arguing about a company that has a resource but can't get at it cause of cultural sensitivity.
the whole idea of a 'song line' being a tangible thing that can be broken by dredging a sea bed.
its an idea, its something that is carried by the people that actually believe in it, like any belief, its a relevance that can be then manipulated to fit any situation....
the issue is, can GOT mine a resource and still leave that part of the planet in pristine condition... well obviously they can't, no more than anyone hunting in those same waters taking a fish out could claim to leave it in a pristine way.
what is reality is, can that company (GOT) or that traditional user make sure the environment can continue to function and repair any damage they cause in their individual action..
i think GOT can and will be as careful to work and mine within strict guidelines.
the reason this will go through will be the mighty $$$$$.
and a chunk of that mighty $ will filter through to environmental preservation, another to the people employed in the mining of the resource and the support to the mining of the resource. Yet another chunk will then go to those who have been banging on about their rights for the preceding time before the mine was operational in order to execute the largest chunk they can get in return for 'their' land.
the remaining chunk..... which i hope is sufficiently big enough to keep the share holders happy will be re-invested into other strategic assets and future fighting funds for the next round of exploration and land rights wrangles that has and always will continue when $'s are involved.
the share price decline in GOT has to do with uncertainty, not any individual, and that uncertainty is more aligned to GLOBAL, not local fear in the market place.
YilYanga, i am certain for whatever your reasons are, and i suspect its more $'s related than that of a conscience vote, but whatever your position, well done for articulating this so well and wordy so much of what is being argued is then lost, but honestly... you really think this is not going to happen??? if they found manganese under the Vatican they'd find a way of mining it, so good luck to all, but I GOT to Get me some GOT, before they start the exploration and the wider market stops looking at Greece and starts looking at India and china again
