Can't see most of this thread, but I can see the subject - I read yesterday in The Age that sea level rise has increased to 3.2 mm per annum (when I come across the article again I will post a link). An increase to me says "acceleration" not "deceleration". There seems to be a lot of abuse of the English language here on HC.

Sea level is rising, whether it is currently accelerating or maybe even decelerating temporarily (which it is not), the important thing is that it is rising and at, say, 3 mm per annum, this means at minimum 30 cm per 100 years and 3 metres in a thousand years. So some may think it is not accelerating? Well whoopee doo - we are all saved! (Not.)

I know 100 years is a long way off, and so is 1,000 years, but Christ was born around 2,000 years ago, and if you said to him then that in 2013 we would be managing the planet so poorly that in 3013 there would be 3 metres of sea level rise (I wonder how much of his birth-place would be under water?) he would be appalled and consider it a sin.

Anyway, I'm not a Christian, but I also consider it morally reprehensible and a sin.
