Like it or not, the proposed heritage order for the archipelago has really thrown a spanner in the works, for although the marine survey has been approved and likely will go ahead, whatever is found may never be mined, according to Chief Minister Paul Henderson. ("There would be an enormously high bar before we would approve any seabed mining").
So what does this mean? IMO Northern Manga will expend the last of their cash on the marine survey...and then what? Assuming the emergency heritage order is granted, we are talking YEARS before anything else will take place on this lease. YEARS!
The results of the survey will be interesting all the same.
Trouble is, what difference will it make if there's a billion tonnes of ore found if the government won't grant permission to mine?
