They've got so used to essentially controlling the media through their race-based one party dictatorship over the past six decades that when the time came to open up and let the information flow, they've fallen over at the first hurdle.
It's been an absolute PR/communications disaster for Malaysia: they simply don't know how to do it anymore, if they ever knew in the first place.
No wonder bereaving relatives of the missing wanted to literally tear them to pieces the other day.
They deserved it.
But that's what happens when Malaysian media is controlled by UMNO, which has made Chinese and Indian citizens second class.
