Tony you are very adamant COP are not going to sell their Senegal assets. At the end of the day, FAR are most likely to sell their share. For our company to achieve top value to a future sell off, it is almost important that Conoco are in the position to do the same. Reasons being that the joint venture including CNE (who has a history of discover and sell) will explore every high COS in order to maximise the value of this potential new oil province.
It will go well beyond proving up SNE, hopefully make it's way back to the Fan, and up the shelf into Rufisque. Production is that far down the line, the only interest now is proving up potential reserves, and if COP are targeting a sale of their interest, and they may well know how massive it could be, they are certainly bright enough to maximise total value for their share.
As shown yesterday in the half trillion dollars in shopping monies, and this only being based on six Western world oil giants and not showing the true extent of the unknowns from China, India, and elsewhere. Senegal is definitely on the radar, and there are many bigger players than COP just sitting back, waiting and waiting.
Kosmos are doing a bloody good job in assisting with the flowering of this province with a very aggressive exploration campaign. It has become obvious now there is a lot of oil and gas North to South and even down into AGC where FAR have considerable acreage, and now of course, the renewed interest in Kenya. So much promise, we just need a little assistance from OPEC.
Media speculation and times of hardship mean jack, six months from now might paint a very different picture. We have to take this day to day, one hurdle at a time. Most importantly, encouraging results from the lead of this program.
