still note that the agent chased a few cheapies for me at last sheep sale,without success,but the damp run towards spring means more sheep being sold off in the wool,and sometimes at a significant discount. woolly sheep are not cheap,if you get caught in a wet spring,no available shearers,and the flock dies from flywave conditions. heavy dew and fogs in the mornings severely cut weekly shorn numbers,kiwis getting unpopular for shearing sheep that are dry on top,but 'soapy' down on the skin.they make 600 bucks a day,while 'organised' teams sit off,waiting for absolutely perfect conditions. no-one wants a shearer to get sick from shearing wet sheep,but if the shearing season is to be extended out from 'october-april' to give people year around work,then give and take is needed.
woolly sheep still worth a punt at a price,for a small number though. west australian sheep still being quoted over here,and these quotes keeping secondary types at lower price levels.
