They had the foresight to offer the $100M settlement at a time when they have no Birdflu vaccine and was ready to rapidly increase production capacity for the pandemic stockpile market. And it is Peter Cook and the BTA management who turned that down, spend $35M to $40M to settle for $20M after the Pandemic Stockpile had been filled. It does not require great foresight to see the benefits of the $100M offer.
GSK is doing a great job marketing their Birdflu vaccine and having the biggest laugh on the $20M settlement. Peter Cook like us all to believe GSK is going all out to convince potential GSK Birdflu vaccine client not to buy the vaccine but instead buy Relenza.
