seat of Curtin ‘hanging by thread’, according to new poll

The Liberal Party is facing a huge swing of more than 20 per cent against it in the prized blue-ribbon seat of Curtin, which would be the party’s worst result in the electorate since 1996, according to a new poll.

When asked whether they believed an independent candidate could effectively represent them in the Federal Parliament, 81 per cent of respondents said yes.

The WA Greens confirmed they would be placing Ms Stewart No. 2 on their how-to-vote cards.

It is understood Labor will also preference Ms Stewart above the Liberals. Ms Stewart, who is billing herself as a socially progressive, economically conservative candidate, said Liberal candidate Celia Hammond, inset, did not represent the electorate’s views.
