we have foreign hedge funds operating in Australia - if these jokers are regulated by these rules - we would see less short selling pressure. I think Australia has to do something soon. Now we will only see those listed in Australia being able to short sell.
Logically, would you want to take the risk that a new rule is imposed out of the blue. If not, you would try to cover your position - instead of chasing the price.
Now that all the long term shareholders are more comforted by OZ recent actions and choose to withdraw from the sell side. You can imagine the explosive price chase - if we are badly shorted.
