Given the initial results of the first well, may dive right into a second well in the block.
ASX and Media Release
Friday 9 May 2008 Second exploration target identified in Block 430, Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, Brazil Eromanga Hydrocarbons NL (ASX: ERH, ERHO, ERHCA) is pleased to advise that a second prospect in Block 430 has been identified by the Gavea Joint Venture (ERH 40%). The new prospect is located approximately 4 km to the ESE of the Joint Venture well 1-NORD-1-SE where drilling has been underway since 7 April. The structures are geologically independent. Re-evaluation of the relatively open 2D seismic grid, immediately to the south of the Angelim field, has led to the conclusion that the productive, NW-SE aligned horst trend of Angelim, probably extends to the SE into Block 430. This feature is readily apparent on NW-SE and NE-SW lines that correspond to the regional dip and strike, respectively, of the Calumbi Formation, one of the productive reservoir intervals in the Angelim field. The principal reservoir objectives for this second prospect would be the pre-Calumbi, Apto-Albian arenites and carbonates of the Muribeca and Riachuelo Fms, with secondary targets in the Calumbi turbidite sands and potentially fractured basement. A dip and fault-closed structure has been mapped at Top Carmopolis Member and a prominent ‘nose’ is mapped above at Base Calumbi Fm. The Joint Venture is currently evaluating whether an exploration well can be located based upon current mapping or additional seismic data acquisition is required prior to a drilling commitment.
