Peterbdon - not trying to be smart - but a gossan is a gossan - a result of sulphides breaking down in the oxide zone - The interpretation of the meaning of the gossan to a geological model will only become apparent after more drilling of the primary ore - and see more of what lithology it occurs in - does it always occur in one type of lithology ( therefore stratigraphically controlled)or does the mineralisation cross cut lithologies ( ie fault/shear related).

The oxide blanket often does not care what rock type it sits in - it is following and fans out in the weathering profile which is mostly sub horizontal ( sometimes they will prefer a certain rock type though - maybe a softer rock - more weathered etc - or a chemically reactive rock like limestones etc. In SRI's case it appears so widespread that it is hard to vector in AND the copper oxide blanket may in fact have several sources to confuse the issue - ie the dolomite hosted alteration zone in TH12 - if it has only a minor amount of copper in the fine sulphides (sub economic) - it will still contribute to the copper oxide blanket above

so for me and for SRI it is still follow the bouncing ball ie follow your nose a little bit because the data found to date has not clearly identified the source (s) of the copper oxide blanket nor the type of mineralisation present in terms of geological models even after all of this drilling.
