    How could trees possibly be happy?
    They spend all their lives being abused by the elements, being crapped on and pecked at by birds, have insects burrowing into them, kids ringbarking them, dog peeing on them, and having their limbs lopped off without anaesthetic.

    How could you assume that trees are happy?
    Maybe they are just blindly optimistic.
