Whilst waiting for our elusive dollar, here's a little outloud thinking regarding some of the posting here.

Firstly, there is some brilliant analysis by those very experienced in the field. There is also a lot of less quality posting - probably some by myself - which I want to make reference to in regard to new traders.

There has been two major changes to the dynamics in Australian stock trading in recent years, one made possible by the other: PC's and home traders. Unlike the days of old when only a few white collar traders existed either on the trading floor or sitting around exclusive men's clubs with their personal broker, now we have every other bloke and gal doing it from the comforts of their home work station. Trading that is.

Trading is becoming as popular as the footy, well, almost. One of the principal effects of this is the increased liquidity it has brought to the market. Some new home traders have benefited from it, but mostly it is the pros who have benefited as they gobble up the hard-earnt of Aussie workers whose gambling streak is no better on the market than it is on the track. But in our wonderful free country, citizens are entitled to lose their money as much as they are to earn it. We can thank democracy for that and we wouldn't have it any other way, unless of course you're a hard leftist, in which case I suggest you move to about any country in South America where the socialist governments have a strong record of losing it for you. Anyway, that's another story.

Here of course, new traders are revelling, and crying, with their new habit, and to make it even more exciting, we can all talk about it on social media, the third unspoken addition to markets.

Which brings me back to posting. So, HotCopper has 300k registered users and growing. I've been interested also in how many new traders there are each week. I asked a relative who works in a major bank (not in the trading dpt), but his enquiry stated 1000 between the 4 majors. If we include the other platforms, then we could have potentially 1500 new trading accounts per week. How many of these are HC picking up? Most I expect.

Brokers are loving it and no wonder the XSO is doing well with all the coin being thrown at it.

Now allow me to get back to reading. I love posts like this, even if too often: "the buys verses the sells looks good. I'll think I'll buy some more. Besides, the guy on the thread said it was going to the moon. Can't wait until it reaches a dollar!'

    Goodluck with that.
