That's your misinterpretation. Thomas was just being human. Thomas was still of the flesh. Thomas had not been through his tribulation, sins washed clean in the blood of the Lamb, or drank the water that springs up to eternal life.
Jesus understood that.

as others would believe without the same benefits that Thomas had, of actually seeing Jesus,


Thomas was on his path when he exclaimed My Lord and My God as his eyes were opened, unlike yours.
