    Great find Arapt,

I'd say it should have been released as news as there's a guaranteed buyer.

found this as well in regards to the news in the video

(Business in Cameroon) - Cameroon’s aluminum company, Alucam, exported 15,879 tons of raw aluminum to France in 2023. This made aluminum the fifth largest export product from Cameroon to the European country. According to a report by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on August 19, 2024, these exports brought in CFA20.8 billion for Cameroon.

The INS data shows that from 2021 to 2023, Alucam's aluminum exports to France increased 2.5 times, up from just 6,307.3 tons in 2021, which generated CFA7.5 billion. The shipments to France had already surged 63.5% from 2021 to 2022, reaching 10,308.8 tons by the end of 2022, with export earnings of around CFA12.4 billion.

France alone received more than 36% of Cameroon's aluminum exports in 2023 and contributed about 38.4% of the country’s aluminum export revenue. Throughout 2023, Cameroon’s total aluminum exports reached 43,916 tons, generating CFA54.2 billion.

This volume of international shipments highlights that Alucam, the largest aluminum producer in the Cemac region, which has an annual production of 70,000 tons, sold 37.3% of its output locally in 2023. Besides supplying its subsidiary Socatral and various local manufacturers, Alucam also provides raw materials to local processors like the Chinese company Everwell Cameroun, which makes electrical cables, and Phoenix Aluminium Cameroun, which produces aluminum profiles.

Looking ahead, Alucam’s local market prospects are set to brighten starting in 2027 with the arrival of a major new client, Proalu SA. On August 13, 2024, Proalu SA, a subsidiary of the steel giant Prometal Groupe, signed a memorandum of understanding and a commercial contract with the Cameroonian government and Alucam to build an industrial complex for aluminum processing in Douala-Bassa.

The project, developed over three years by the Cameroonian investment advisory firm JMJ Afrique and reportedly given a major push by Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Nguté, will see Alucam supply Proalu SA with 30,000 tons of raw material annually. This will make Proalu SA Alucam's main client, securing an annual revenue of CFA48 billion for the company. The Proalu SA industrial complex, set to be completed by early 2027, will produce aluminum coils, pre-painted steel coils, electrical cables, and other derived products.

The commercial contract is also expected to include advance payments for raw material orders, which will help Alucam's often strained finances. By partnering with Alucam and guaranteeing CFA48 billion in annual revenue along with advance payments, Proalu SA provides a crucial boost to the state-owned company, which has been seeking a strategic partner since the departure of Canadian firm Rio Tinto a decade ago.
