    If one has over $1.6m in an SMSF after 1/7/17 the extra mus be taken out or transferred to an accumulation account.

    The two accounts (pension and accumulation) will have to be accounted for by the proportional method, segregating specific assets between the two accounts won't be permitted.

    However it seems it will be permissible to have two separate SMSFs. So one SMSF may have just the assets selected to be in pension mode. The other SMSF could have the assets selected for accumulation mode.

    Hence segregation appears possible but just requires the administration fees on 2 funds.

    Another Scott Morrison fiasco.
