Segue Resources eyes maiden manganese resource in 2011 at Emang in South Africa
Wednesday, November 02, 2011 by John Phillips
Segue Resources (ASX: SEG) has recently been having some exploration success at the Emang Manganese Project in South Africa, which has allowed the company to target a maiden resource statement early next month.
The first 28 reverse circulation holes of around 60 planned have now been completed at the project, with the majority intercepting manganese.
Diamond drilling is also under way with up to ten holes planned, although assays have not yet been received.
Geological modelling of the manganese mineralisation is expected to commence in late November, following receipt of the final assay results.
The project has an exploration target of 45 to 60 million tonnes at 28% to 44% manganese, with an added bonus the possibility of being amenable to open pit mining.
Manganese ore was mined in the PMF until the 1980’s and several new mining and exploration projects have recently commenced. Another plus is close proximity to infrastructure including rail, water, roads and power.
Segue is partnering with Emang Mmogo Mining Resources, an experienced Black Economic Empowerment group.
