"Aged Care costs MONEY....The more money you have, the better care you are likely to receive.
I make that statement as a "general situation" comment."
What happens the more more you have the more you pay.
If you have been a welfare recipient all your life and dont own anything, If you have nothing but a pension they take a portion of it. No other fees. If you own a home. You will have to sell it or rent it to create income they will take.
I think things have changed but when my mother went into aged care she paid - $330,00 Accommodation Bond up front. Then on a fortnightly basis there was a Basic fee, an Income and Asset Tested Fee and an Extra Services Fee. All up about $1,500 a fortnight.
Some people who only had a pension didn't pay a cent out of their own pocket. All had similar rooms etc

In Australia the harder you work the more the Govt screws you over AND the less you work the more the Govt throws $$$ at you.
