Bottom line is, we arent all living off "self funded retirees" as you say. Some people have worked hard all there life and just make poor investment decisions or make good decisions but at unfortunate times.
Others might have never seen a day of real work in there life and yet get lucky on punt investments that have allowed them to make a fortune.
You will probably find, if you bothered to research that companies in Australia pay far more tax than any individual human entity. Thus again disproving your original thread.
