I was in a similar situation

Under my EBA it stated which super funds I had to chose from. Therefore because a smsf wasn't one of the funds I couldn't direct any super to my smsf.

No matter what I tried the answer was always... sorry its not allowed under the EBA.

When time came to do another EBA I made sure that smsf was on the list.

Fund of choice only applies if you don't have a EBA in place.

So the only way you can direct funds to a smsf if you have an EBA is to make sure that it is a listed choice.

This could have changed since then but basically this was the advice I was given to direct funds while being in a EBA.

It must be listed in your EBA.
