The US will not go down the gurglerpermanently because US Government's debts are in USD's. As repeatedly posted, all the US need do is trash the USD and that debt will simply vanish into the ethers.
The US may certainly go down an economic gurgler for a while but the country still be there at the end of it and it will prosper.
When a collapse of Great Depression magnitude happens again my guess is that English speaking democracies will be far more resilient than the despotic regimes that are currently trying to fill the many vacuums and voids that have been created by the Clinton, Bush, Obama and Trump administrations.
